Samina Nafies (b. 13 June 1961, Jhalakathi) is a Bangladeshi painter and arts administrator whose practice spans painting, exhibition curation, and child-arts programming

Achievements

  • Fine Arts at Bangladesh Shishu Academy. Nafies has held four solo exhibitions in Dhaka—at Gallery Tone, Alliance Française, and Zainul Art Gallery (1995–2009)—alongside numerous group participations,
he earned her MFA in Painting (First Class First) from the University of Chittagong in 1986
including multiple National Art Exhibitions and Asian Biennials from the late 1990s to 2009. She also led collaborative workshops and served as Member-Secretary for the International Children’s Art Biennale. Her published works include Surrealism in Painting (2000) and Drawing and Reading of Pictures (2003), and she is currently researching the use of child art in psychological development.

Exhibition at Gallery 21 explores Womanhood

he spirit, beauty of womanhood and also the strength in every woman have been depicted by 11 female artists at a group art exhibition at Galley 21 in Dhanmondi in the capital. The exhibition titled 'Shreyoshi' showcases 50 paintings by noted and promising artists including Farida Zaman, Kanak Chapa Chakma, Fareha Zeba, Farzana Islam Milky, Kuhu, Naima Haque, Rebeka Sultana, Shulekha Choudhury, Mini Karim, Samina Nafies and Shameem Subarna.
