Pradyut Kumar Das

📍 Dhaka, Bangladesh

Pradyut Kumar Das is the deputy director of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy as well as an artist whose practice explores the overlooked narratives of daily life. His debut solo exhibition Searching Light at Gallery Bhumi featured over 100 works—paintings and sculptures that reflect the quiet resilience of working-class individuals. With burned plastic wood as his primary medium, Pradyut transforms discarded materials into deeply personal and political statements.

Achievements

  • Pradyut’s work draws from real people—fishermen, flute players, rural women—rendered in textured surfaces that crackle with meaning. Each scratch and burn speaks to emotional erosion, social injustice, and fleeting moments of grace. His language is raw, symbolic, and spiritually grounded—what he calls “a limited expression of a boundless journey.”
